Mackie Onyx 1220

Premium Mackie Mixer... ON FIRE!
At Mackie, their expertise designing great sounding, ultra-reliable compact mixers goes without saying. They practically built their company on the shoulders of those hallmark blue and red knobs, legendary XDR preamps and VLZ circuitry. So why develop a whole new small-format analog mixer line from scratch?

High-performance analog mixers for the digital era.
The goal for the Onyx Series was no short order: small-format analog mixers with more useful features, better sound quality, advanced tonal shaping and full FireWire connectivity options. To accomplish all this, they assembled a hybrid engineering team led by famed analog engineer Cal Perkins and digital guru Chris Jubien. They also couldn't keep Greg Mackie from adding things as they went along (like 4-segment LED metering on every channel). Two years and almost nine thousand cups of coffee later, they've releases the flagship Onyx Series.

Delivering the premium goods.
The Onyx 1220, 1620 and 1640 start with Mackie's new Onyx mic preamps, which meet or surpass just about any standalone mic preamp on the market in terms of pure fidelity and head-room (and yes, there are specs to prove it). Next up is the completely new Perkins EQ circuitry, a "neo classic" 3- and 4-band design which gives you the sweet musicality of British EQ with greater filter control and minimum phase shift (plus a true hardware EQ bypass). This analog brilliance is paired with a full-featured discrete Auxiliary section, a completely redesigned mix bus and summing amp section, and a built-in Talkback section with onboard mic.

The Simplicity of Analog. The Convenience of Digital.
The Onyx FireWire I/O Card is a true first. This 24-bit/96k card bridges the gap between Mackie's flagship Onyx analog mixers and a Mac or PC, giving musicians and engineers a great-sounding and very efficient way to go from analog to digital--without the need for separate converter boxes or interfaces.

Mackie HR824mk2

The Mackie HR824mk2 active studio monitors manage to improve on the widely-used originals. New features, such as a solid aluminum Zero Edge baffle and optimized waveguide help to give the HR824mk2 even more accurate, natural sound reproduction. Designed with high-definition audio in mind, this monitor provides exeptional clarity for surround 5.1 and 7.1 applications, and an Acoustic Space Control function allows it to be adapted to any room and still provide maximum accuracy. Low-frequency roll-off and high-frequency shelf functions are also included on the HR824mk2.

Mackie HR824mk2 Active Monitor at a Glance:
  • New baffle design
  • Acoustic Space Control
  • Ample wattage, time correction

New baffle design
The HR824mk2 features a Zero Edge baffle, which is constructed from a solid piece of aluminum. The new baffle design minimizes diffraction and helps provide a clear sonic image, as well as tight bass response. An optimized waveguide disperses sound evenly over a wide field, as well as providing robust mids. These improvements to frequency response and depth of field make the HR monitors sound better than ever.

Acoustic Space Control
An integrated Acoustic Space Control feature makes these monitors ideal for locations (such as video post suites and home/project studios) where available space is limited. This feature gives you full space, half-space, and quarter space settings, which adjusts the bass response when they're away from walls, against walls, or set up in corners. Low frequency roll-off and high frequency shelf functions are also switchable on the back panel.

Ample wattage, time correction
The HR824mk2's 8.75" low-frequency driver receives 150 watts from an onboard FR (Fast Recovery) amplifier. The waveguide-loaded aluminum dome tweeter is powered with 100 watts, and an active crossover helps to eliminate phase anomalies. These monitors also include time-correction circuitry, which allows the highs and lows to reach the listener at the same time.

Mackie HR824mk2 Features:
  • 8.75" high-precision, low-distortion LF driver
  • 1" titanium dome ferrofluid-cooled tweeter
  • Optimized waveguide for wide, even tone
  • Twin FR Series amps: 150W LF, 100W HF
  • Cast aluminum Zero Edge baffle minimizes diffraction
  • Internal damping eliminates midrange artifacts
  • Passive radiator provides tight, articulate bass extension down to 45Hz
  • Acoustic Space Control, LF roll-off, HF shelf controls
  • Balanced XLR, TRS, and unbalanced RCA inputs
  • OmniMount for easy wall or ceiling placement
  • THX pm3 certified for surround applications

Mackie MR8

The MR8 is part of Mackie's new MR series of monitors that offer incredible Mackie power and performance at a very affordable price! Delivering all the essentials critical monitoring demands - including consistent performance, and clear sound across frequencies - the MRs also offer a broad sweet spot, giving you more flexibility to move around your desk while still hearing what you need to hear. You can even use acoustic controls to comepensate for your room's characteristics! At this affordable price, the M8 features active bi-amplified architecture, tight, distortion-free bass, excellent imaging and clarity, and carry the Mackie stamp of approval - which is quite the stamp, considering Mackie's excellent reputation. There's no doubt that these MR8 monitors are worth taking home.

Mackie MR8 Active Monitor at a Glance:
  • Minimum-diffraction molded baffle for a clearer image
  • Special amplifier design
  • Rear-ported cabinent

Minimum-diffraction molded baffle
Mackie's baffle is molded to minimize diffraction, so that sound waves are dispersed evenly and smoothly. What you can expect is a clear image of your mix, and a wide sweet spot - giving you great sound whether you're on axis or off.

Special amplifier design
The amplifier design on the MR5s and the MR8s is matched to the monitor design, featuring Mackie's A/B architecture. Instead of coloring the sound, Mackie designed the amplifier to be neutral, delivering an ultra-flat frequency response. Acoustic controls allow you to adjust high and low frequency settings to compensate for your room's acoustics. Mackie also included both balanced and unbalanced inputs - giving you the ability to handle any material you need.

Rear-ported cabinet
The speaker cabinet features a rear port that's designed to deliver a great bass sound without any audible vent noise. Air can pass through the curved port easily, so you get great bass without distortion - and no build-up of pressure within the cabinet that may affect driver movement. Strong cabinet bracing and MDF construction prevents any unwanted vibrations or resonance.

Mackie MR8 Active Monitor Features:
  • Precision Class A/B 100/50W bi-amplifier with active protection circuits
  • HF and LF acoustic setting switches for room correction
  • XLR, 1/4" and RCA inputs
  • Ultra low distortion 8" steel frame woofer
  • Wave guide loaded 1" high resolution tweeter
  • Minimum diffraction molded baffle
  • All units are tuned to work interchangeably as matched pairs
